India will never fire the first bullet along border, Rajnath tells Pak Rangers

New Delhi: Amid growing tensions along the border and LoC, India on Friday told Pakistan that it will not fire the first bullet.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh is reported to have told a visiting delegation of Pakistan Rangers on Friday that “the first bullet will never be fired from the Indian side”.

The Pakistan Rangers delegation called on the Indian Home Minister after holding director general-level talks with the Border Security Force (BSF).

Major General Umar Farooq Burki, DG of Pakistan Rangers, is reported to have told Rajnath during the meeting that since he is not a part of the government, he cannot give any assurance on the border firing issue.

However, sources said, it was decided that during the meeting that communication through phone and emails will be maintained.

On Thursday, the talks between the delegations of the BSF and pakistan Rangers concluded on a positive note with both sides agreeing to take steps to ensure peace on the border.
