Indian Constitution is the best: Gogoi

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the Constitution of India is one of the best and the nation has the highest regard for Dr B R Ambedkar who played a major role in framing it.

“The Indian Constitution is the one of the best among the Committee of Nations, which provides civic, political and economic equality besides social justice, harmony and expression faith and belief,” Gogoi said in a tribute to Ambedkar on the occasion of ‘Constitution Day’ today.

Dr Ambedkar along with Dr Rajendra Prasad, Jawaharlal Nehru and others played a significant role in drafting the Constitution of India, the Chief Minister said in a statement.

Ambedkar was a great fighter who fought against exploitation, injustice and oppression, he said.

“This was the day when the Constitution was adopted thereby laying the edifice of one and united India. However, even today some divisive forces are at work, which are spreading their tentacles and creating an atmosphere of intolerance and hatred,” Gogoi added.
