Indo-US bilateral trade can be boosted with ease of doing business, says Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker

Washington: United States Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker has said that Indo-US bilateral trade goals can be boosted by enriching the ease of doing business.

“Ease of doing business, a step initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the key to boosting bilateral trade and achieving the goal of increasing it to USD 500 billion,” said Pritzker.

“President Obama has said we must make it easier for Indian and American businesses to buy from each other, to invest in each other and to create with each other. We must take action against impediments to businesses and we will not be successful without engagement and or inputs from our private sectors,” she added.

Pritzker further said, “Business between United States and India has never been better. Our two-way trade has nearly tripled in the last decade. American investments in India have become triple since 2004 and India is the fifth fastest growing source of investment in the United States.”

“Over the last years, we have two important steps to ensure that economic issues and private sector input are at the heart of our bilateral relationship. Together, we have an extraordinary opportunity to realise the potential and promise of the US-India economic relationship,” Pritzker said. (ANI)
