Inferno breaks out at foam godown in Ajmeri Gate

New Delhi: A major fire broke out at a foam godown in Delhi’s Ajmeri Gate area on Friday evening.

As many as six fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

Divisional Fire Officer, Sanjay Tomar, said that local and the fire officers worked with swiftness to evacuate the building, which prevented any causality.

“We got a call at around 8.45 pm. After which two to three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Looking at the intensity of fire, we declared it a category 6 fire at around 9.30 pm. The fire officers worked swiftly and locals helped in evacuations, because of which there were no causalities as of now,” Tomar told ANI.

“The basement of the building had a lot of combustible material. Like rubber sheets, some other materials like foam, footwear. The fire has been doused and cooling operation is underway,” he added.

The cause behind the fire’s origin is yet to be ascertained. (ANI)
