Instagram’s first photography exhibition in India today

Kolkata: Online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service provider Instagram is holding its first ever photography exhibition in India on Thursday.

Community-generated Instagram posts around the theme ‘ Celebrating Diversity of Bengal’ will be on display in the exhibition at the Indian Council For Cultural Relations (ICCR) gallery here.

“People today are finding their visual voice through the images we capture and share with others, each image telling a story about what we are experiencing. Images are universal. They transcend language and cultural barriers,” the company said in a statement.

Instagram, created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, was launched in October 2010 as a free mobile app.

The service was acquired by Facebook in April 2012 for approximately USD one billion after it gained popularity with over 100 million active users.(ANI)
