All interrogation must be recorded on CCTV, says Shatrughan

New Delhi: BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that all interrogation by police and CBI across the country must be recorded on CCTV.

“High time and right time to get professionals with integrity and humane touch in CBI and Police. Every interrogation needs to be recorded on CCTV. For kind perusal of our dashing PM,” Sinha tweeted.

The Bharatiya Janata Party MP was reacting to last month’s suicide of former bureaucrat B.K. Bansal’s family and the death of a 22-year-old in a Jharkhand police station this month.

Bansal was being probed by the CBI in a bribery case while Minhaz Ansari was arrested on charge of spreading “objectionable messages” over beef on WhatsApp.

Sinha said it was “time for action” following the alleged custodial death of Ansari and the suicides by the Bansals “due to CBI torture”.

He urged the authorities to act against the culprits. “Bring culprits to book with stern deterrent action.”
