IPL betting racket busted, 5 held

Ghaziabad: Police have busted a cricket betting racket with the arrest of five persons from an abandoned cinema hall in Maharajpur area here.

During checking of the deserted cinema hall, Ramesh, Shyam, Rohit, Vikas and Bobby were caught and Rs 70,000 cash and eight smart phones were recovered from their possession, SHO of Link road police station, Rojanat Tyagi said.

During questioning, the five men confessed to have been involved in betting on Indian Premier League matches.

They were also involved in some other betting rackets, the officer said.

The accused have been arrested and efforts are on to nab other people involved in the racket, the SHO added.
