Iraq forces in east Mosul reach Tigris: spokesman

Arbil: Elite Iraqi forces battling the Islamic State group in eastern Mosul today reached the Tigris River that splits the city in two for the first time, a spokesman said.

Counter-Terrorism Service forces “reached the Tigris River from the eastern (side) of the fourth bridge,” Sabah al-Noman told AFP, referring to the southernmost bridge in Mosul.
