Irrigation projects’ completion by Aug. 2016: Jupally

Hyderabad: Accusing the Opposition parties of making a hue and cry for political mileage, Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today said most of the irrigation projects in Palamur district will be completed by August next year.

Speaking to mediapersons at Mahabubnagar, the minister said Rs 900 crore was allocated in the budget for completion of Bheema, Nettempadu, Koilsagar and Mahatma projects. The TRS governmet was committed for speedy completion of these projects, including Palamur lift scheme, he asserted. “Though we have taken all steps and started land acquisition for Palamur-Ranga Reddy project, the Congress and the Telugu Desam party leaders were resorting to mudslinging activity, he charged.

Jupally also accused the previous Congress government of looting funds of the project and involved in irregularities. Though it had to complete the project in 2008, if failed to complete the project which was pending since the last 30 years, he charged. While the Centre had allocated Rs 1100 crore for the project in 2010, the project was not completed by the successive governments which even failed to acquire the land for the purpose. the minister pointed out.

Krishna Rao alleged that the Opposition parties began demanding the completion of these projects only during Telangana movement. He attributed Telangana statehood to the protracted struggle by KCR and the TRS. The Chief Minister is committed to complete the Palamur project and others for irrigating agriculture lands, he added.
