New Delhi: A retired Indian Army personnel and a school teacher have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for being part of the espionage racket run by the ISI, bringing the total number of arrests in this case so far to four.
The Delhi Police said the team of Inter State Cell of Crime Branch had gone to Jammu and Kashmir in search of other persons involved in this racket when they arrested Munawwar Ahmad Mir, a retired havildar of the Indian Army.
He had joined the Indian Army in 1995 and retired in 2011 after serving in J&K Light Infantry, Rashtriya Rifles, at various places in India.
The school teacher was arrested from Khablan tehsil in Thanna Mandi of Rajouri district.
Further investigation in this is underway and all the arrested people would be produced before a Delhi Court today.
Earlier, two espionage rackets were busted with arrests of five people from Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Kolkata. One of the men caught was suspected to be a handler from ISI, while the other was a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, claimed the Delhi police.
However, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah branded the entire operation as ‘baseless and unfounded’.
One of the accused Kafaitullah Khan, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly had connections with an official of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police successfully foiled a massive Lashkar-e-Taiba plot where an attack was being planned on prominent personalities and crowded areas in the national capital.
According to an FIR that was submitted on December 1 in a concerned anti-terror court, the LeT commanders have been in touch with the operatives in India using several code names.
The Delhi Police has also warned of possible Fidayeen attacks in the national capital and other areas.(ANI)
