ISL 2: Delhi Dynamos head to Scandinavia for training

New Delhi: Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos FC are embarking on a training trip to Sweden, Norway and Denmark at the end of this month to prepare for the second season of ISL that starts in October.

All players, domestic and foreign, including marquee manager Roberto Carlos will take part in it.

The first stop will be Gothenburg city, considered the birthplace of football in Sweden, on September 1. Their training till September 17 will see Delhi Dynamos play against top Scandinavian teams.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Sunday football carnival, Delhi Dynamos FC player Naoba Singh said, “I am excited and looking forward to train with the whole squad. With Roberto Carlos as our manager, it is a huge asset for us.

It is a source of inspiration and a great opportunity to learn.” Prashant Agrawal, President of Delhi Dynamos FC, said, “A lot of well-wishers and friends, including the government of Sweden, are sponsoring the training trip. It will be a good chance to check the team’s strength before the season starts.” He said the club will soon set up a Youth Academy at Noida and a fully residential academy at Lucknow.

“We want to run academies that will provide 360 degree support to young footballers, giving education and world-class facilities,” he added.

Delhi Dynamos FC are soon going to announce a slew of international signings with speculation abuzz that ex-Chelsea Florent Malouda and ex-Liverpool John Arne Riise will be among the new recruits.

The worldwide announcements will be made through LED boards during the English Premier League matches — West Bromwich Albion versus Chelsea, and Arsenal versus Liverpool.

“We are a club that dreams big for Indian football. We are making a unique statement with the LED visuals. It is a novel way of showcasing Indian football to the world,” said Prashant Agarwal.
