“Islam a ticking time bomb of terror” – BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde; Police registered a case

Bengaluru: Ananth Kumar Hegde, BJP MP from Uttara Kannada termed Islam “ticking time bomb of terror”. After this remark which hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslims, a case was registered against him yesterday.

According to the news published in Indian Express, in a press meeting held in Sirsi, Karnataka on Sunday, Hegde had allegedly termed Islam “ticking time bomb of terror” which needed to be eradicated. He is said to have accused presspersons of helping terrorists by airing views of JNU student, Umar Khalid’s father, a former member of the banned SIMI.

Sirsi Police registered a case against Hegde on a complaint filed by Luqmaan Bantwal, vice-president of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the Indian Youth Congress under Section 295(A) of IPC for “deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs’’.
