‘ISRO flooded with requests to name buildings after Kalam’

ISRO has been flooded with requests from the public to name important buildings after former president and scientist A P J Abdul Kalam, who passed away last month, a senior official of the space agency said here today.

“We have received many requests from the public to name important buildings of ISRO after former President Abdul Kalam and these will be considered,” S Rakesh, Director, ISRO Propulsion Research Centre at Mahendragiri, said.

Kalam was associated with the Indian Space Research Organisation in its early days.

On the GSLV D6 scheduled launch on August 27, Rakesh said all work is progressing satisfactorily.

He said ISRO plans to build low cost cryogenic engines in future, using kerosene and liquefied oxygen, with the advice and help of Russia.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Science 2015’ programme here, where students explained their projects.
