J-K CM no more: Vice President Ansari, Mehbooba and Omar reach AIIMS

New Delhi: Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah have reached the All India institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on hearing of the demise of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to visit the AIIMS later today.

79-year-old Sayeed was admitted in the AIIMS for the past 15 days and was on ventilator.

Sayeed, who was born in 1936 in Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir, had previously served as Chief Minister from 2002 to 2005. He was also the Home Minister of India from December 1989 to November 1990.

Sayeed had founded the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party in 1999. (ANI)
