Jagan lashes out at AP CM over “unfulfilled promises”

Kadapa:YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today hit out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him cheating the people of the state with “unfulfilled promises and false propaganda”.

He said the CM has cheated farmers in the state and the people of Rayalaseema, and warned of launching agitations if the government failed to take up the issues of this region.

“The Chief Minister and his ministers have failed to fulfil even one assurance given to Rayalaseema in 2014. The CM and Irrigation Minister had promised that the government was committed for the development of this backward region and would provide Srisailam water to Rayalaseema by completing Gandikota Project,” Reddy said.

He was addressing a protest programme organised by his party near Collectorate here against the TDP-led government, in which leaders from other political parties, including CPI, CPIM and AAP, also took part.

“So far they have done nothing, either to complete the ongoing projects or to resolve the problems of the people of submerged areas,” the Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly said.

In order to protect the interest of farmers, water from Srisailam project has to be used for irrigation purpose alone and should not be used for electricity production, he said.

“The government should complete the ongoing projects– Vamikonda, Sarvarayasgar, Gandikota Lift Irrigation scheme, Paidikalva, Chitravati Balancing Reservoir, among others…If the state fails to fulfil its promises and protect peoples’ interests, prolonged agitations will be continued in future,” he said.
