Jagan questions KCR on T projects

While concluding his Jala Deeksha here on Wednesday, YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy lashed out at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the ongoing works being done on the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme. He also excoriated AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu saying that the latter has no courage to accost KCR on RDS works and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of grant of special status to Andhra Pradesh.

Aiming at KCR, Jagan said, “We remained united till recently. We both Andhra and Telangana people speak Telugu. We stood united and fought against the neighbouring States over Babli and Almatti projects. We will not get a drop of water if the upper riparian States construct projects. Therefore, we fought with the neighbours over the issue. Knowing very well about the piquant situation, you are constructing projects in Mahbubnagar which will result in stoppage of river waters to Andhra Pradesh. Is it not a grave injustice?, he asked KCR.

Jagan also said Chandrababu Naidu remained mum on the Telangana projects even as KCR started works on the RDS. If KCR goes ahead with the projects, there will be no water to the Srisailam project and people of Rayalaseema, Prakasam, Nellore will have no drinking water. He said if there is no change in the situation and if both Chandrababu and KCR do not arrive at an amicable settlement within two months, he would again undertake a deeksha at Polavaram.

Though Chandrababu Naidu had gone to Delhi, he did not gather courage to broach the subject with Prime Minister Modi. He said if the T Government draws 70000 cusecs, the AP region, especially the Rayalaseema, would get completely parched. He said if the situation continues to deteriorate, the situation would be similar to the one on India-Pakistan border. (NSS)
