Jagan undergoes indefinite hunger strike seeking Special Status for AP

YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched his indefinite hunger strike seeking Special Status for Andhra Pradesh at Nallapadu in Guntur on Wednesday.

Jagan began his Deeksha after garlanding the statue of his later father and former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S.Rajashekara Reddy. He also paid homage to the five people who laid down their lives for the sake of special status. Large number of YSRCP activists, farmers and students are participating in the Deeksha. Senior leaders including Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Ambati Rambabu, Botsa Satyanarayana, T Raghuram, YV Subba Reddy and others were present.

Addressing the gathering, Jagan accused the TDP Government of having failed to get Special Status for AP. He alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrashekar Rao has failed to pressurise the BJP-led NDA Government over the issue of Special Status despite his party being a partner in Central Government. He announced that he would continue the Deeksha till the Centre accepts his demand. (INN)
