Jat agitation: Rajnath appeals for peace

Mathura: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today appealed the Jat agitators to maintain peace during their ongoing agitation for reservation in government jobs.

“The talk with the Jat leaders is going on. My appeal to the agitators is to maintain peace,” he told reporters after attending the Vatsalya Mahotsav here.

He said the NDA government was working diligently for improving the skewed sex ratio of the country.

“Besides working to overcome poverty, unemployment, bad health, illiteracy etc, the government is also working hard to improve the male-female ratio,” he said, adding that in Haryana, the ratio has increased to 903 girls per 1,000 boys.

“It could translate into a reality because the present government is sincerely working to make Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme a grand success,” Singh said.

The Union Minister said the sex ratio would have improved drastically by now if BJP was in power earlier.
