JD (S) protests in Bengaluru, demands Lokayukta’s resignation

Bengaluru, July 10:  The Janata Dal (Secular) workers took out a protest march here on Friday demanding Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Y. Bhaskar Rao’s resignation over the alleged involvement of his son in an extortion racket.

The protestors raised slogans against the Karnataka Lokayukta and his son Ashwin Rao.

Several protestors were also detained by the police to ensure that no untoward incident took place.

“Bhaskar Rao must resign and his son should be arrested. We will keep protesting till it happens,” one of the protestors told ANI.

“Lokayukta used to be an ideal for us. We used to approach the Lokayukta whenever we witnessed any form of corruption. Our belief has been shattered,” said Vidya Arun, another protestor.

According to reports, the Karnataka Lokayukta Police had registered an FIR against Ashwin Rao, who was accused of being a part of an extortion racket, on July 1.

The members of the racket used to contact contractors and builders posing as Lokayukta officials and demand money. (ANI)
