Jeevan Raksha awards announced, 3 bravehearts get Sarvottam Padak

New Delhi: The central government on Monday, Jan 25 announced the Jeevan Raksha Padak series awards for 2015 after the President’s approval. There are 50 awardees in all, of whom three will be conferred with Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, nine Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and 38 people with Jeevan Raksha Padak.

Nine will be honoured posthumously. -pranab-mukherjee All the three awardees — Ullas Unnikrishnan from Kerala, Munna alias Ramdars Sisodiya from Madhya Pradesh and Ankit Kumar Mishra from Uttar Pradesh — of the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak are being honoured posthumously.

The Jeevan Raksha Padak awards are given to people for meritorious acts of humane nature for saving the life of a person.

The award is given in three categories, namely, Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak, and Jeevan Raksha Padak. Persons of either gender in all walks of life are eligible for these awards. The award can also be conferred posthumously.

The award includes a medal, a certificate signed by the home minister and a one-time monetary reward. The award is presented to the awardees by their state government.
