Pune: In a macabre incident, a 25-year-old man, apparently depressed due to a heartbreak, committed suicide by setting himself on fire inside a car in Hadapsar area of the city this morning.
He was identified as Ajit Ingale, who worked as a driver.
“Some commuters saw a car in flames and alerted the fire brigade. The brigade officials rushed to the spot, however they found the car locked from inside,” said senior inspector Rajendra Mohite of Hadapsar police station.
The firemen then smashed the window, but by then Ingale was completely burnt.
As per the information provided to the police by his relatives, Ingale was in love with a girl, who recently got married and refused to take his calls.
On Friday evening, he had called her and asked to meet, but she refused, which apparently prompted him to commit suicide.
