Jose Mourinho poised to take over as Man Utd manager

London : Jose Mourinho is on course to replace Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager in the coming few days after reportedly agreeing a deal with the Old Trafford club.

Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December last year, was widely seen as the favourite to replace the embattled Dutchman, who came under constant criticism amid their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

However, United ended their troubled season on high with a FA Cup victory, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in the final at Wembley last evening.

According to the Guardian, Mourinho had already agreed a salary and discussed possible transfer targets with the club.

The formal announcement will be made once Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, finalises the finer details of the contract.

However, van Gaal remained defiant while placing the FA Cup on the table in front of him during the press conference. He said he didn’t want to talk about leaving the club, adding that he was proud of becoming the first United manager after Sir Alex Ferguson to win a trophy. (ANI)
