Hyderabad: The water ATMs have come as a huge relief for people during scorching summer in Hyderabad. Pure, chilled and affordable drinking water is dispensed at a cost of just Re 1 per litre.
Inspired by the water ATMs already in operation in several cities across India, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board had earlier decided to introduce Water ATMs in the city.
The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) in collaboration with an NGO, Piramal Sarvajal, had installed five Water ATMs in Lal Bazaar, Tadbund, Balamrai, Bolaram and Bowenpally almost a year back.
It is planning to install water ATMs at Trimulgherry, Begumpet, Karkhana, Rasoolpura and Cantonment area soon.
Water ATMs have made possible clean & cold drinking water for those who cannot afford a mineral water bottle.
