‘Just want to go home’: German teenager who joined ISIS

London [U.K.]: A German teenager, who is suspected to have joined ISIS, has now expressed deep regret for her actions and wants to return to her family.

Qutoting Der Spiegel magazine, the Guardian reports that four German women who joined ISIS recently, including a 16-year-old girl, are being held in an Iraqi prison and given consular assistance.

Lorenz Haase, senior public prosecutor in Dresden, confirmed that the teenager, Linda Wenzel, had been “located and identified in Iraq” and was receiving consular support.

Haase further informed that the teenager had travelled to Turkey about a year ago with the apparent goal of reaching Iraq or Syria and security officials lost her trail.

German broadcasters NDR and WDR and newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung said they had interviewed Wenzel in Baghdad and she expressed the desire to leave.

“I just want to get away from here. I want to get away from the war, from the many weapons, from the noise. I just want to go home to my family” she was quoted as saying. (ANI)
