Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has expressed deep sorrow at the sad demise of former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
In a media statement here today, Shabbir Ali conveyed his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family and described his death as an irreparable loss to the nation. Shabbir Ali recalled that Dr Kalam was the first President, who spoke in favour of formation of Telangana. “The Government will consider the demand for formation of a Telangana State at an appropriate time after due consultations,” Dr Kalam had stated while addressing the Joint Session of Parliament on June 7, 2004. His words came true in the shape of formation of Telangana after 10 years. He said Dr Kalam’s contribution to the nation will be remembered forever and making India a superpower will be a real tribute to the People’s President. (NSS)
