Kalki Koechlin, who was excited and extremely happy for winning the 63rd National Film Award in the category of Special Jury Award for her film Margarita with a Straw, couldn’t believe the news that she has won it and called it ‘The award of nation’.
The 32- year-old actress took to her Instagram account and uploaded a video of herself in which she said, “I can’t quite
believe it yet that I have won the national award, I mean it’s ‘the award’ it’s the award of the nation. So, superb, I am so happy.”
She said. “I was shooting in Colaba in Mumbai and as soon as I heard the news, I started jumping. I was on the road, jumping up and down. This came completely unexpected. I am one of those people who don’t expect anything at all so this was a great surprise. I didn’t dare dream of a National Award.”
Kalki said that her mother is ecstatic and has informed everyone about her daughter’s success. She said. “I got calls from my home town Puducherry and I was wondering who informed them. It was then that I realized that it was my mum’s doing. She has informed the whole world.”
Kalki has no idea if this win will turn things around for her she said. “Of course, the award holds immense value and I am honoured, but this is my first National Award and I don’t really know if it affects the kind of work that I’m offered.”
