Kanhaiya’s lawyer likely to approach Delhi HC

New Delhi : With the Supreme Court declining to hear the bail plea of Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU students’ union president’s lawyer is likely to move the Delhi High Court today.

This came as the apex court directed Kanhaiya to move the High Court.

Counsel Raju Ramachandra appearing for Kanhaiya told the apex court earlier that the atmosphere of Patiala House Court is not safe for the accused and his lawyers.

“The Defence lawyers are not able to perform their duty in such hostile environment. That is why the bail application had been moved to the Supreme Court,” he said.

The apex court observed that once enough security is provided to the accused and his lawyers then there shall be no problem in filing the bail plea in the High Court.

The Delhi Police today submitted in the apex court report regarding the incidents of violence at the Patiala House Court.

Kanhaiya yesterday moved a petition before the apex court seeking his release from police custody under Article 32 of the Constitution.

Kanhaiya stated in the plea that he “fear for the safety of life and limb” at the Delhi sessions court that had compelled him to approach the apex court directly. (ANI)
