Kanwariya influx: Edu institutes to close from Aug 10-12

Ghaziabad: The district administration today announced that all educational institutes will be closed from August 10 to August 12, in view of the heavy influx of ‘Kanwariyas’.

All government and public schools, intermediate and degree colleges and all other institutes have been ordered to close down for three days from 10th to 12th August, District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma said.

Sharma further said that to avoid any untoward incident due to heavy movement of ‘Kanwarias’ on the roads and National Highways, all the buses ferrying students for colleges and schools will not be permitted to ply.

All police stations, District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) and Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) have been instructed to enforce the “closure order” strictly, he added.

As per the traffic advisory, National Highway-58 has also been closed for traffic.

Vehicles going towards Meerut from Delhi via Ghaziabad shall not be allowed to use NH-58. People have been advised to use NH-24 i.E. Vijay Nagar bye-pass via Hapur-route instead, Traffic Inspector Anil Yadav said.

All vehicles have been banned from Meerut Road trisection towards Mohan Nagar and vice-versa, he said.

In case ‘Kanwaris’ influx is found low, we will relax traffic movement regulations, after on-the-spot assessment, police added.
