Kapu reservation – Padmanabham to go on strike from today

Kakinada: Kapu leader, Mr. M. Padmanabham announced that he would go on indefinite Hunger Strike from today. In view of this, District Police have made tight security arrangements in East Godavari (EG) Districts. SP of EG District, Mr. M. Ravi Prakash told that Padmanabham is going on indefinite Hunger Strike at his residence in Karlampudi. Police is taking precautionary measures in view of the violent incidents occurred last week. 39 check posts have been setup to check the entry of miscreants. Section 144 has been imposed to put a ban on any kind of congregation.

It may be noted that last week Kapu community resorted to pelting stones after the public meeting addressed by M. Padmanabham in Tuni Town. The mob set ablaze four bogies of Ratnanchal Express which resulted in the loss of Rs. 120 crore to railways and police. 63 cases have been registered by the police in this connection.
