Kashmir Police appeals to public to give time to serve them

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: Newly appointed Inspector-General of Police Muneer Ahmed Khan on Wednesday appealed public to give Kashmir Police time to serve them.

“We will ensure to create peaceful atmosphere in the valley, be it connected to the tourism industry or any other business in Kashmir. I request people to give us a chance to serve them,” Khan told ANI.

Khan further said the involvement of students in incidents of violence is a matter of concern which has to be addressed on priority.

“The involvement of students in stone-pelting is surely matter of concern and has to be addressed on priority not only by the police, but also by parents, college and school administration who should contribute and ensure that the system of education does not suffer,” he added.

“No doubt I have served in the valley in different capacities but things and the scenario keeps on changing. Methods of militants, law and order change every time. When you land up in a posting in a valley you find so many new things to tackle with. So, this time, when I joined as IGP Kashmir, I have lot of new things to tackle.”

Khan was appointed as IGP Kashmir Zone in place of Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani. Gilani has been appointed as Director (Vigilance).(ANI)
