KCR condemns “Kiss festivals” organized in University of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: CM of Telangana, Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao condemned conducting “Kiss festivals” in University of Hyderabad. He was commenting on Rohith Vemula’s suicide incident. He told that he was quiet on this incident as he did not want to gain political mileage but he had taken all the steps to restore normalcy on the campus.

He was addressing Telangana Legislative Assembly. He told that the universities should function as centers for excellence in the field of education and not the centers for creating anarchy. He further told that he was shocked to know that “Kiss festivals” are being organized in universities these days.

On the issue of not filling up the posts of VCs in State Universities, he told that he wants to cleanse the university education system by appointing VCs with good character, integrity and values. The process of searching good candidates for the posts of VCs is in progress.

He informed the house that the State Govt. has taken permission from the Governor for appointing VCs by the Government. For this purpose, Universities Act is being changed.
