KCR directs officials to expedite irrigation projects

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday directed the officials to expedite the works pertaining to various irrigation projects across the Telangana State.

While chairing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat here, KCR asked the officials to identify and eradiate the hurdles in the construction of different irrigation projects. He said that the Palamuru Lift Irrigation Project needs to be executed as planned so as to provide irrigation facilities to the people of Mahabubnagar district. He said efforts should be made for effective utilisation of Krishna River.

The Chief Minister said inter-State disputes on sharing of river water could be minimised by changing the designs of projects.

KCR assured that the State Government would pay adequate compensation to the people who were getting displaced due to different irrigation projects. He directed the officials to compensate the affected people as per the prevailing market rates. Asking the officials to expedite the process of land acquisition, he informed that Rs. 300 crore have been provided to Mahabubnagar District Collector towards payment of compensation to those getting affected due to Palamuru project. He also assured that government job would be given to one member of each of the affected family. (INN)
