KCR exempts “Shatakarni” from ET

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced exemption of Entertainment Tax for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th Telugu film “Gautamiputra Sathakarni”.

Actor Balakrishna met the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday and requested the latter to grant ET exemption to “Gautamiputra Sathakarni” a historical film. Responding to Balayya’s request, the Chief Minister promptly instructed the officials concerned to issue the orders to that effect.

           

The Chief Minister said the Telangana State government has decided to support and encourage films based on the noted historical personalities. In this context, he recalled the ET exemption was given to an earlier historical film “Rudrama Devi”. In future too, this policy will continue, the CM said.

           

Thanking the Chief Minister for his gesture, Balakrishna said the entire shooting of the film was completed in a record 78 days. Besides shooting at Kotilingala in Telangana State, the film has shots at several historically important locations in the country. Balakrishna also invited the Chief Minister to watch the first show of the film, which is to be released on January 12.

Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Producer of the film Rajeev Reddy and Srinivas, presenter of the film, were also present. (NSS)
