KCR govt totally neglected farmers: Kishan

BJP floor leader in Telangana Assembly G Kishan Reddy today alleged that agriculture sector in the State was totally neglected by the TRS government.

Speaking at the “Rytu Deeksha” program organized by party’s Kisan Morcha here, Kishan Reddy said the farmers in the State had dreamt of good lives in separate Telangana State and actively  participated in the separatist agitation. Now the farmers are feeling neglected in the last three years after TRS came into power, Kishan Reddy alleged. Waiver of farm loans in phases was forcing the debt-ridden farmers to commit suicides, he said and claimed that some 3,200 distressed farmers ended their lives during the last three years in the State.

Ridiculing the TRS tall claim of making the State into “Bangaru Telangana”, Kishan Reddy said the distressed farmers, who raised their voice demanding remunerative process for their produce were ruthlessly handcuffed like militants. Alleging that the State government was not giving importance to “Fasal Bhima Yojana” (crop insurance) initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP floor leader said only five lakh farmers have been registered under the scheme and rest some 55 lakh farmers were left in the lurch.

Kishan Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was misleading the people by displaying his photos in the Centre-sponsored schemes. “Just by providing Rs 8,000 input assistance per acre we cannot improve farmers pathetic conditions”, he added.
