KCR greets women on International Women’s Day

TELANGANA: On the occasion of International Women’s Day Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has conveyed his greetings to the women in the state.

“The government is taking several measures for the welfare of the women in the state. New and innovative programmes for women will be launched this year. The women in the state should take advantages of the programmes and schemes of the government and move forward,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister has taken an important decision for an increased role for women in the governance.

He has also decided to give nominated posts to women, who played an active role in the Telangana statehood movement and also in the movement for women development.

The Chief Minister has constituted a three-member committee to select women candidates for the chairperson of certain corporations and other nominated posts, which will consist of the Legislative Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Karimnagar ZP Chairperson Tula Uma and Nizamabad MP Kavita Kalvakuntla.

The Chief Minister has asked the committee members to prepare a list of the eligible women based on which the nominated posts will be filled up with women candidates shortly.
