KCR grieves Jayalalitha’s demise, sends Harish, Nayani to represent at funeral

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today expressed his shock over the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha after a prolonged illnness.

In a statement here, KCR stated her followers and admirers regarded her as “Puracchhi Thalaivi” as revolutionary leader in Tamil Nadu politics. In her passing away, Tamil Nadu has lost a great leader. He described Jayalalitha as political heir of late M G Ramachandran, who took off from her filmy career. At a time when women entering politics was rare, Jayalalitha created a political history in the contemporary Tamil Nadu politics by becoming AIADMK’s general secretary and later on as Chief Minister of that State.

           

With her nomination to Rajya Sabha, Jayalalitha’s political journey started. The Chief Minister described Jayalalitha as a unique person in TN politics to have won State Legislative Assembly elections consecutively for two terms and formed the government and set a record of sorts. She had also excelled as a film artiste and proved herself in the arena of politics too, which is a record. Her demise created a void in political scenario of Tamil Nadu. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies and conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family and people of Tamil Nadu.

            Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also deputed his cabinet colleagues T Harish Rao and Sri Nayani Narasimha Reddy to represent the State at the funeral of J Jayalalithaa to be held in Chennai on Tuesday evening. (NSS)
