KCR meets Telangana Governor

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Governor ESL Narasimhan here today.

The meeting came in the backdrop of hectic exercise by the Telangana government on proposed reorganisation of districts and other administrative units in the state.

The government initially proposed to form 17 new districts, in addition to the existing 10, but the number may go up to 30 in view of the demands from public representatives and others.

Rao made it clear yesterday that the number of new districts would not go beyond 31.

He held a meeting with ministers and senior officials today and gave directions to them on the constitution of new districts.

The state government has constituted a ‘high power committee’ headed by ruling TRS MP K Keshava Rao to look into demands for constitution of four districts of Gadwal, Asifabad, Jangaon and Sircilla.

The new districts are proposed to come into existence from the Dussehra festival on October 11.
