KCR reviews preparations for ‘Grama Jyothi’ launch

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the launch of ‘Grama Jyothi’ programme, which is aimed at overall development of villages across the Telangana State.

Addressing the meeting at MCR HRD Institute at Jubilee Hills here, the Chief Minister directed District Collectors and senior officials to finalise the modalities for the successful launch and implementation of ‘Grama Jyothi’ programe. Ministers K Tarakarama Rao, T Harish Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jogu Ramanna, Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Jagadish Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, DGP Anurag Sharma, District Collectors, SPs, Joint Collectors and other senior officials attended the meeting.

KCR said that the programme was aimed at providing basic amenities to the rural masses and improving their living conditions. He said the programme would be launched on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15. He hoped that the programme would strengthen the Panchayat Raj system in the State and it would involve the common people in the process of development.

The Chief Minister directed the Collectors to prepare a five-year development plan for each and every village in their district. He asked them to emulate the Singapore which resolved the water crisis in rural areas in an exemplary manner. He said some rural areas have already achieved lot of development. They include Ganga Devapally in Warangal, Ankapur in Nizamabad and Malkanoor in Karimnagar district. He said these three places could be presented as models for the State.

KCR said after the successful implementation of ‘Grama Jyothi’, the State Government will launch a new scheme called ‘Patna Jyothi’ to ensure overall development of urban areas in Telangana State. He said ‘Grama Jyothi’ should be made as successful as Mission Kakatiya.

The Chief Minister also praised the Collectors, SPs and other officials for the successful conduct of Godavari Pushkaralu. (INN)
