While addressing a sort of brainstorming session for TRS LP and Parliamentary Party leaders, including ministers, MLAs, MPs and other leaders at HICC on the new districts, mandals and ensuing Parliament session, Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao had to abruptly skip the meeting to attend a call by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, according to information.
KCR is understood to have rushed to Raj Bhavan to attend the call of Rajnath Singh and is known to have got a voice from the Centre on the burning issue of bifurcation of the High Court. He also spoke to Governor ESL Narasimhan on the issue. It is pertinent to note that KCR had shot a missive to Rajnath Singh seeking a speedy decision by the Centre to bifurcate the High Court while the State was witnessing turmoil that advocates seeking justice amid Judges’ suspension and 200 judicial officials going on mass leave for 15 days besides rising protests in the State. At this juncture, Rajnath Singh is believed to have made a call to KCR probably advising him to abstain from his proposed Jantar Mantar protest for the purpose.
Though it is not clear, it is said that the chief minister had reiterated his stance of a massive protest in national capital probably during Parliament session beginning July 18 and expressed displeasure at Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda’s comments and comparing him to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Gowda’s disowning the responsibility of the Centre on the need to bifurcate the High Court was the main issue that was highlighted during his telephonic conversation with Rajnath Singh and sought an immediate and amicable solution, it is learnt.
Ostensibly, KCR is learnt to have complained to Rajnath Singh about conspiracy being hatched by his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu to delay the HC division process and raised stiff objection to more number of AP judges in Telangana courts which will not serve the purpose of AP Reorganisation Act. He also brought to the notice of Singh about the readiness of the State government to provide a building in the existing HC premises for the AP or land for constructing a new building in Hyderabad itself.
Rajnath Singh later believed to have promised to take up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the speedy solution for the pending issue of two years. The telephonic conversation probably gave hope to KCR to avoid his Delhi stir and wait until the Centre takes a call.
All party meeting on new districts
Earlier, the Chief Minister informed the party leaders about his firm decision of carving out new districts by Dasara festival followed by an all-party meeting. Telangana is likely to see 14 new districts and 74 new mandals for administrative ease and smooth governance. He said West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh States did not divide the districts and failed to get Central funds also Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalayas. Each district may have 20 mandals and the mandals will be included to nearest district and a constituency may spread to multiple districts. KCR asked them to focus on welfare schemes as the new districts are set to become development centers. (NSS)
