Kejriwal holds meeting on odd-even scheme

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today held a meeting with his deputy Manish Sisodia and Transport Minister Gopal Rai to finalise all modalities of the second round of odd-even scheme, starting from April 15.

They discussed how to implement the exemption given to vehicles carrying schoolchildren during the car rationing scheme.

Sources said the government may ask the city’s private schools to issue a pass or some document to parents.

Kejriwal is expected to announce all exemptions tomorrow to be given under the scheme.

“In the meeting, the chief minister along with Deputy Chief Minister and the transport minister discussed various issues pertaining to the scheme,” an official said.

The official said that the government is also contemplating to increase the age limit of children travelling in cars during the scheme from 12 years to 18 years.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal had recently urged the Transport Minister to consider the same.

The second phase of odd-even scheme will be implemented from April 15 to 30. As per the plan, women drivers will be kept out of the scheme.
