Kerala BJP President reportedly says ‘Muslims can be identified by removing their clothes’, triggers row

Attingal [Kerala]: Kerala BJP President, Mr. PS Sreedharan Pillai made a controversial remark. He reportedly said that Muslims can be identified by removing their clothes.

According to the report published in The News Minute, he gave this statement at a public meeting held in Attingal. He was campaigning for BJP’s Attingal candidate Sobha Surendran. His remark was the reply to the opposition’s question on the number of people killed in the air strike.

Referring to Balakot Air Strike, he said, “our Rahul Gandhi, Yechury, and Pinarayi wants our soldiers to count the number of people died along with their caste, religion, etc”.

Continuing his speech, he said, ‘if it is Islam, will there be any sign? If clothes are removed then only it can be known’

Referring to the opposition, he said, ‘they want these things to be done before returning’.

After the video of his speech went viral, he denied making such comment and threaten to take legal action.

His remark has triggered row. Leaders of both LDF and Congress have raised their voice against the remark. CPI (M) leader, Mr. VS Sivankutty filed a complaint with Election Commission claiming that the remark is the violation of Model Code of Conduct.
