New Delhi: Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra on Friday said Khadi is the symbol of national unity and integration, and hence, every citizen should purchase Khadi.
After inaugurating a ‘ Khadi Utsav’ at Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti here, the minister said, “Khadi is able to compete in today’s global market, and to realise the vision of Gram Swaraj, it is necessary to develop village industries.”
He emphasised that Khadi exhibitions should be organised in every district of the country, adding that the visionary Prime Minister is well aware the importance of Khadi, therefore he called upon the people to buy it.
Arun Kumar Jha, CEO and Commissioner, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), told the media that the objective of the utsav was to revive the dormant Khadi production, which was famous for its sophistication and fineness
On the occasion, a Khadi fashion show was also organised by students of an international design institute in association with designer of Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan.
