Kidnapped girl rescued in Kashmir, accused arrested

Srinagar: Police today solved a kidnapping case of a girl in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district by arresting the accused within 10 hours of the incident.

A report was lodged and investigation started after a person filed a written complaint that his daughter was missing from her home, a police spokesman said.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Zakir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Srinagar, had kidnapped the girl, the spokesman said.

He said after strenuous efforts, police recovered the girl within 10 hours and arrested the accused from here.

The girl was later handed over to her family members, the spokesman said.
