Killing of two Muslim boys in Imphal; no FIR registered even after five days

Imphal: No FIR has been registered so far in connection to brutal killings of two Muslim boys in Imphal West district under Mayang Imphal Police station  on Thursday.

One woman is reported to be killed in today’s protest .

People are demanding immediate registration of FIR and arrest of the killers.

Although five people have been arrested by the police but till now no FIR has been registered by police.They are also demanding immediate release of  Md Zamir  who is till now under police custody, said Mr Khalid of Popular Front while  to Muslim Mirror from Imphal.

The incident took place near  deserted  farming land on Thursday  afternoon when  Md. Farooque, 16  and Md Saddam, 14  both from Lilong Turel Ahanbi , and  Md.Zamir,19   of  Lilong Awang Leikai  were returning from school.

Zamir is the third boy who escaped from the lynching mob and hid behind long grasses of the  fish farm where the boys were taken .

Reports suggest that they were taken as bike lifters and then brutally assaulted.

‘But there was no bike at the place where the boys were attacked’ No bike was recovered and one can’t kill small boy on the basis suspicion’ said Khalid.

Md Khalid has different version of the story.

In fact the boys were returning after seeing off their female Hindu classmates once the classes were off. Their friendship with Hidu girls resulted in their deaths, he added.

Although the administration deny any communal angle involved in the incident.

Had they killed the boys in such a way  if they would have been form their own community, asked Khalid

Inaction of the Congress government led state government further agitated the community. Chief Minister of Manipur Ibobo Singh has not said a single word on the incident.
