Kingdom-wide Namaz-e-Istisqa performed in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: Kingdom-wide programme of Namaz-e-Istisqa (rain-seeking prayer) was organised in Saudi Arabia on the directive of the King. Prince Faisal bin Bandar took part in the prayer program at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque on Thursday.

Rain-seeking prayer was also performed at the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah. Prayer at the Grand Holy Mosque of Makkah was attended by Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, while the prayer at the Prophet’s Holy Mosque in Madina was attended by Undersecretary of Madinah Region Governorate Wahib Mohammed Al-Sahli. In Riyadh, Grand Mufti and President of Senior Scholars Council and Scholarly Research and Ifta Presidency Sheikh Abdul-Aziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh graced the occasion.

Prayers were also performed simultaneously in other regions and attended by governors of regions and senior government officials.

It must be noted that Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayer is Sunnah of Prophet (SAW) and Muslims around the world perform the prayer in pursuit of Sunnah during drought and late rain, praying to Allah Almighty for rainfall.
