Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy today called upon people to participate in “Telangana (Nizam) Liberation Day” on September 17 being organized by the party across the State in protest against the atrocities of erstwhile Nizam rule.
Speaking to mediapersons at the State party office here on Wednesday, Kishan Reddy condemned the indifferent attitude of TRS government, which failed to announce the day as Hyderabad Liberation Day. He also alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had criticized previous earlier Congress government for not celebrating the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 officially. But after KCR wrested political power on the sentiments of Telangana has failed to celebrate the Liberation Day on September 17 officially, he said.
Kishan Reddy also said his party would celebrate the Liberation Day from booth level to State level and national flags would be hoisted. September 17 would be celebrated as a festival since Thursday is also Vinayaka Chaturti, he said, adding that the people of Telangana should perform Lord Vinayaka puja and unfurl national flag even at Ganesh pandals. He also alleged that KCR was insulting Telangana martyrs, by not celebrating the Liberation Day officially. He also recalled that martyrs of Telangana courageously opposed oppressive rule of Nizam as Razakars, erstwhile Nizam’s private Army raped womenfolk and massacred many people in Telangana and Marathwada regions.
Though the entire country celebrated Independece Day on August 15, 1947, the people of Telangana region, which was under Nizam’s rule, could not do so. Due to stiff resistance from the heroic people and Indian Army, Nizam finally agreed to merge Hyderabad into the Indian Union. Kishan Reddy questioned Chief Minister KCR whether he was supporting atrocities of erstwhile Nizam’s Army and praising his rule? Why is he going back on his promise to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 officially when he had demanded former chief minister K Rosaiah to celebrate the day officially?, he asked.
