Kistapur villagers agree to give lands for Mallanna Sagar; Govt offers Rs 5.85 lakh per acre

Even as the Opposition crying foul against the Telangana State government for its proposal to acquire lands for Mallanna Sagar reservoir, people of Etigadda Kishtapur in Medak district came forward to give their lands and vacate the village for the cause.

According to the information, Harish Rao convinced the villagers of better compensation for paving way for the project. The villagers have accepted to offer their lands for Rs 5.85 lakh per acre besides housing facility by the government as per GO 123. Harish Rao also promised to offer the villagers all help and extended thanks for coming forward to give their lands and shifting the houses.

The minister exuded confidence that other villagers facing submergence will also get similar support from the government. The villagers accepted the proposal of the minister that the Government would construct a similar village with same name after completion. With this, the one of the major obstacles seems to be getting removed. It is likely that the villagers will get compensation and housing facility before the completion of the Mallanna Sagar. (NSS)
