Hyderabad: Minority Welfare Department has focussed its attention towards stopping non-religious activities in religious institutions. On receipt of information regarding venturing into the area and carrying out recreation and drinking by some elements on Koh-e-Maula Ali Waqf land, Secretary Minority Welfare, Syed Omer Jaleel has decided to take legal action. He issued notification in this connection which stated that Koh-e-Maula Ali is the religious place of Waqf and Shia Muslims hence permission cannot be given for adventure, recreation and drinking activities on any religious place. Such activities are strictly prohibited. Only religious activities can be permitted on religious places, he said. Any person found involved in non-religious activities, sports or adventure, criminal action will be taken against them.

Recently some organisations complained that students of a university abutting Koh-e-Maula Ali are using the place for recreation. A complaint was also lodged with Tirmulgiri police in this connection.
