Kohli defends `perfectly timed` sledge exchange with Faulkner

Melbourne : Indian maverick batsman Virat Kohli has declared his sledging exchange with Australian all-rounder James Faulkner during the third ODI between the two sides as `not far off from the truth`.

The exchange took place when Kohli was on 72 and he told Faulkner that there was no point in sledging as he had smashed the latter enough in his career.

The 26-year-old, who finished with 117 runs during his side’s defeat, further asked him to go and concentrate on his bowling, News.com.au reported.

Reflecting on the incident, the ODI vice captain insisted that these kinds of things happen in cricket, adding that there was no harm in it till it didn’t cross the line.

Kohli, who considered it to be `perfectly timed`, admitted that banter was enjoyable on the field, but at the same time added that one needs to focus on the game as well.

India are currently trailing 0-3 in the five-match ODI series following their seven-wicket defeat against Australia in the third match in Melbourne. (ANI)
