Koirala’s contribution to fostering Indo-Nepal ties will be remembered: Sonia

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday condoled the demise of Nepal’s former prime minister Sushil Koirala, saying that his contribution to fostering Indo-Nepal ties will always be remembered.
“Underlining the close relation with Nepal as also that with the Nepali Congress, to which Shri Koirala belonged, Smt. Gandhi said that his contribution to fostering Indo-Nepal ties will always be remembered,” the INC’s twitter handle said.

“He led his country during extremely difficult and testing times and contributed immensely to the transition of Nepal into a Republic,” the statement added.

Koirala, who was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, passed away this morning. He was 76 years old.

He passed away in the midst of preparations for Nepali Congress General assembly, which is barely two weeks away, and was making every effort to retain the party leadership. (ANI)
